Not Your Ordinary Father’s Day Ties

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Author: Matt of Tiepedia.com

It may surprise some of you to hear what I am about to say, but it must be said. Not all guys want a tie on Father’s Day. GASP! I know, I know, it sounds crazy… and I certainly am not one of those guys, but apparently it’s true.

Listen to what Joseph Hurtado has to say, “there are only two types of men: those who hate ties, and those who grudgingly accept them as part of the job.”

Blasphemy as far as I am concerned, but if you’re Mrs. Hurtado you may want to think twice about getting Joseph a tie for Father’s Day. How about baking him a delicious necktie cake instead? I don’t think many men could resist that. Here are some sweet examples for you to consider! (Congrats to the cake artists who created these!)

FYI:

Matt is a blogger sharing a site posting from his site for Father’s Day! Thanks for sharing Matt!

Out of the Box samplers

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

I love candles. Bet that hasn’t come across. lol But not only do I love candles, I love yummy candles that I know someone handmade. I honestly LOVE helping a fellow woman in her quest to stay home and still provide for her family. I’m always on the lookout for homemade candles, but it is a difficult topic to use on the search engines. There are so many searches that come up and so many of them are quite spammy looking.

Out of the Box samplers are a dream come true for me. Homemade candles, bath and body products all sent to my house. Incredibly creative products and just the yummiest combination of scents.

Sample boxes sell out quickly so it’s a very good idea to get on the priority mailing list so you know the second the boxes go on sale and also any discounts offered.

So about each box. Here are just a few of the samples included in my box.

Out of the box sampler
These are just a few of the items included in a sampler box I received. Further reviews of each product will be forthcoming. ;) Each box includes an average of 13-15 generously sized samples. These are not all going to be tiny slivers of soap that are unusable or tarts so tiny you don’t smell them in the burner. In fact the mini-muffin tart I burned smelled up my house for three straight days of burning!

I was impressed by the quality of products and the sizes. I loved that these are sizes that I would be purchasing when I go to the website. Be ware though, the box sells out fast. The next box goes on sale April 10th, but again I encourage you to join the email list so you know it went live. The boxes won’t last long and there are limited quantities because of the quality of products.

Sample many etailers at once at Out of the Box, so you can find your favorites!

Back to School

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

The kids going back to school means more time for some of us Mom’s.  For those of us with all school age kids, we can now get a little pampering in peace and quiet.  The kids going to school means we are forced to have a slight routine.  Even those like me that cringe at a normal schedule.  lol  Now you need to make yourself part of that normal routine.

I know that everyone has heard about getting up a little earlier to enjoy your cup of tea or coffee in peace before the start of the day.  I too like this option.  But alas, I’m a sleeper and not a morning person.  So I’d also like to throw an night option at you.  Do you have guilt about your tv shows?  Why?  lol  Put the kids to bed and enjoy your silly/trashy/brainless tv show in the evening.  To assuage any guilt I may have I only watch 1 show without doing anything, then any other shows I will fold laundry, do dishes, etc.

Another option I really like is a bath once a week right after lunch.  The house is quiet, I’ve done some errands, and it feels purely indulgent to take a mid day bath.  lol  Sinfully indulgent as a matter of fact.  Load up your favorite bubbles or salts and a ton of candles.  Give it a try and see how it lifts your spirits for the rest of the day.

Go read at the park.  Parks don’t mean just kids toys.  Pack up a picnic lunch, a good book or magazine and go enjoy the greenery at your local park.  Peace and quiet at it’s most natural.  The only thing to annoy you is the sound of the birds.

Home spa day is also an incredible thing.  Grab your favorite mask, pedicure and manicure stuff, and go to town.  Take a few hours a month and really do it right.  It’s inexpensive and rejuvenating.  Even better, get a friend and enjoy gabbing while you sit with mud masks on soaking your feet.

Movies and take-out.  This is one of my favorite things to do during the day.  I go to my favorite sushi place and grab some long rolls.  I then watch a chick flick in peace curled up on the couch.  Me time at it’s finest!

Whatever your favorite way to unwind is, make a point of enjoying it.  Don’t feel guilty about it.  You’ll be a much happier person for taking care of you here and there.

Welcome to Mom’s Indulgence

Friday, June 15th, 2007

As a fellow Mom I understand just how important it is to take care of ourselves. As a personal trainer, I know how few women actually do it. I’ve set up this site to hopefully encourage women to put themselves first for at least a few minutes every day.  We work hard and deserve it, but sometimes we need a reminder of that.

I’ll pass on specials and sites as I find them so you can indulge yourself in style but keep it affordable.   I know it is difficult to justify our indulgence if we are “taking” money away from family expenses.

So grab your favorite beverage and light snack and check in often.   Let me know if there is anything you are looking for in particular.   Comment often to my findings. I like to hear back if I’m on target with what you are looking for. ;)
